Weight Belt
Introduction
Care and cleaning
Introduction
This belt is for counterbalancing the natural buoyancy of
the body and the exposure suit when trying to descend. Lead
weights of about 1 or 2 kg. are placed in the belt pockets.
When it comes to buying a weight belt, it is
advisable to verify that the release buckle be sufficiently
easy to open quickly. This is a requirement in case of emergencies.
A weight belt with adequate weight allows
a diver to float on the surface effortlessly and at the same
time keep him at the bottom when required.
In order to calculate the necessary weight for each individual,
besides physical build, it is also necessary to keep other
factors in mind, such as the diving gear used and the exposure
suit’s thickness, so as to avoid complicating movement
underwater
Care and cleaning:to
keep in good condition, divers are recommended to:
1. Take out the weights once the dive is over.
2. Wash the belt in plenty of sweet water and leave to drip
dry in the shade.
3. Dry the weights so as to avoid their deterioration and
store them wrapped in cloth or in a bag.
